Before you can define assembly products, you must first set up a product class; your assembly products will belong to this product class. 

In general, follow the instructions for setting up a product class as described in the Product documentation. Setting up an assembly product class is nearly identical to setting up any other product with the following qualifications:

  • In Product Type, select Inventory.
  • The Inventory unit of measure must be a quantity unit, such as EA (each) or PCS (pieces). For example, you could not use Lbs, Meters, or Boxes.  
  • Check Generate Inventory Tags.
