Line defaults are simply an optional way to save entry time by pre-populating fields with default values. You can pre-populate:

Line Details

Fields used by multiple types of products. Fields are described in the Line Entry Field Descriptions section of this documentation.

Product Categories

Fields that are specific to a product category. The fields that display for each product category are called "characteristics" in the system, and they are set up in the Environment module (General > Product Category). You can set up any number or type of fields (or no fields at all) for each category.

Pre-Populating Fields with Default Values

To pre-populate fields with defaults:

  1. On the left menu:
    • Click Line Defaults > Line Details
      or
    • Line Defaults > Product Categories
  1. Complete the fields that you want to pre-populate. Leave the fields you do not want to pre-populate blank.
    Note: You can also set defaults for Custom fields and the WBS level. 
  2. Click Save 5G Graphic.
    When you go to the Line Entry screen, any field with pre-set defaults will automatically be completed for you.
    Note: You may overwrite the default in Line Entry.

Apply All

The fields Direct Ship and Warehouse as well as the WBS level may be retroactively applied to all line items on an existing order. This is helpful, for instance, if you forget to set Direct Ship as the default before you start listing items or if the warehouse changes after you start the order.

To apply Direct Ship or Warehouse to all existing line items on an order:

  1. On the Line Details screen > Shipping panel, set the field to the desired setting:
    • Check or un-check Direct Ship.
    • Select the desired Warehouse.
  1. Click Apply All next to the respective field.

To apply a WBS level to all existing line items on an order:

  1. On the Line Details screen > WBS Level panel, click to check the level(s) that you want to apply.
  2. Click Apply All at the top of the panel.
