Executive Summary

The following are the major features introduced in aSa.Studio v2.2.0.

Multiple Applications

  • The system now supports multi-tenant hosting, a way of sharing cloud resources that provides a cost savings over other hosting models for stand-alone users and smaller companies.
  • Upload end prep pictures and print them on your bundle tags.

3D ProRebar

  • 3D ProRebar now connects directly to the aSa.Studio Azure database. You can create models and take off material without importing or exporting.
  • Detailers can work stand-alone when they are not connected to the aSa database. The system temporarily saves environment and background information to the local workstation to facilitate non-connected detailing. This mode supports all modeling and detailing activities, except Takeoff, which does require a live database connection.
  • Added a Detailing section to the aSa.Studio menu. While ProStructures must be launched independently, the new section contains all aSa.Studio browser-based tools available to Detailing users, such as Import, Export, Shape Manager, and reports.

Inventory Tracking

  • Pending Remnant Tags – When a shearing run results in remnants, you have the option to print remnant tags from Processing. The tags have a pending status until you create the remnant bundle and scan the remnant tag to activate it. You can then use the remnant bundle for production, just like a stock tag.
  • New heat reports:
    • Heat Number by Control Code
    • Heat Number by Load
    • Heat Number by Shipping Ticket
    • Heat Number by Job

Inventory Tracking & Processing

  • Group Tag Functionality – Create your own custom material groupings for industrial bags, pallets, or other special packaging. Use a single tag to track and validate each group.

Order Entry

  • Import takeoff data into Order Entry from an Excel spreadsheet. An Environment editor lets you define Excel import templates so the system can import accurately.

Processing

  • New Add Material tool helps you improve cutting yield. Easily select items from unfabricated orders in the system and add them to the current session. A preview lets you see the cutting results of the updated material mix prior to updating the session.
  • New option prints master bundle and item bundle tags in sequence in a single PDF file, eliminating the need to launch separate print jobs. Another new option lets you print item tags without master bundle tags.
  • Assign a priority to specific items so they are fabricated earlier in the cutting schedule.
  • Overrun – The system now supports the industry standard practice of reducing the length of selected items (by a minimal amount) to improve cutting results.
  • Shear Groups – Group selected material into custom shear groups; create separate cutting schedules for each group.
  • Select Material – Select Material Grid items (for applying options) based on a wide variety of criteria, including diameter, cut length, shape, and route.

Shape Designer

  • Create three-dimensional custom shapes.

Scheduling

  • Define capacities by time (as well as weight) for each machine. Use this information to avoid over or under-scheduling material for each piece of equipment.
