An end preparation is a special condition applied to the end of a bar, typically to accommodate connection devices. 

For each end of a bar, Order Entry allows you to specify:

  • The end condition itself. 
    Example: Lenton threading.
  • An add-on or deduct length to adjust the bar to accommodate the end condition (if needed). 
    Example: Add 1 inch or 20 millimeters to the bar length for the threading.
  • A product or device to add to the bar.
    Example: Lenton Bar Grip Standard
  • Whether or not the end prep device is attached to the bar
    Yes - End prep device is attached to the bar by the fabricator.
    No - End prep device is provided separately (or direct shipped from manufacturer) presumably be be attached at the jobsite.

End Prep Entry

To take off a bar with an end preparation:

  1. Enter a straight or bent bar.
  2. Before saving the line, open the End Prep fields in the Right Menu Pane:
    • Click Open Right Pane to display the Right Menu Pane if it is not already open.
    • In Right Pane dropdown, select End Prep.

Notes: 

    • Based on your screen customizations, End Prep fields may also display in the Entry Grid or in the Favorites field group. 
    • Fields may display in any order.
  1. Complete the End Prep fields, described below. 
  2. Click Finish to save the line. 

End Prep Field Descriptions

Use Left End Prep (LEP) fields to add an end condition to the left end of the bar. Use Right End Prep (REP) fields to add an end condition to the right end of the bar. You may add end preps to either or both ends, and the end preps can be different on each end.

End Prep

Select the end preparation to add to the bar. End preparations are defined in the Environment module (General > End Prep Codes).

Add/Deduct

Select whether to add to the specified bar length or deduct from the specified bar length in order to accommodate the end preparation.

Length

Based on your selection in the Add/Deduct field, enter a length to add to or deduct from the supplied bar length. 

Product

If you want to associate a product to the end condition, such as connector or grip, select the desired product. Only products set up with the Category Type Rebar Connector are valid.  

Attach

Attach becomes enabled when you select a product. Check to indicate that the product (end prep device) is to be attached to the end of the bar. Uncheck if the product will be provided but not attached by the fabricator.
