Importing Kit Templates

To import a kit template:

  1. Open Import: On the Order Entry screen, click Tools . On the Left Menu, select Import > Kit Template.
    Import Kit Template displays.
  2. Complete the Select Fields:
    • Fabricating Location - Select the location into which you are importing the kit template.
    • Alternate Product Group - If the kit template(s) being imported contain different product IDs than the ones used at the location where they were exported, select the appropriate alternate product group. Alternate product groups allow the system to change product IDs in the import file to match those in the destination database. For more information, refer to Understanding Alternate Product Groups.
  1. Click Select File, then browse to the desired file.

    Drag and drop files onto the Files box.
  2. Complete the import Options, described below. 
  3. Click Proceed .
  4. The kit(s) import into your system. 
    Notes: If the kit template name conflicts with an existing kit template in your system, you will be prompted to rename the kit template or remove it from the import.
  5. View the Log tab to see a list of issues encountered by the program during the import process.

Kit Template Import Options

Template is not valid

If the kit being imported is associated with a template that already exists:

  • Cancel - Stop the import.
  • Auto Increment - A template ID will be generated and assigned.
  • Assign Manually - Allows you to manually create your own template ID, as long as it doesn't already exist.

Assign new Template

If the kit being imported is not associated with an existing template:

  • Yes - A new template ID will be generated and assigned.
  • No - Current template ID will be used if it doesn't already exist.

Building Code ID or Version does not match

If the kit being imported is associated with a building code that does not exist in the destination system:

  • Cancel - Stop the import.
  • Use default  - Uses the building code ID or version of the current location.

Cut length longer than mill length

If the kit being imported has a cut length longer than mill length:

  • Cancel - Stop the import.
  • Ignore - Ignore length difference and import the template.

Use existing shape when match is found

If the system finds a shape in the destination system that matches the geometry of the shape being imported:

  • Yes - Use the existing shape; do not import the duplicate shape.
  • No - Import the shape; your database will have two shapes with matching geometry. If the shape ID's are the same, you will have to rename the new shape.

Retain product description from import file

If the kit being imported has a product description:

  • Yes - Product description is retained.
  • No - Product description is not retained. If the product description already exists in the system, that description will be used.

Exporting Kit Templates

To export kit templates:

  1. Open Export: On the Order Entry screen, click Tools . On the Left Menu, select Export > Kit Template. 

The aSa Export Kit Template screen displays.

  1. Optional: Use the search fields to filter the kit template selection choices. 
  2. Click to select the kit templates you want to export.
  3. Complete the export Options, described below. 
  1. Click Proceed .
    Depending on your browser, the file(s) may be automatically saved to your Downloads folder or you may be prompted to select a destination folder for the file(s).
  1. At the Confirm prompt, click OK
  2. If desired, attach the export file(s) to an e-mail and send it to a fabricator or other destination. 

Kit Template Export Options

Alternate Product Group 

If the kit template(s) being exported contain different product IDs than the ones used at the destination where they will be imported, select the appropriate alternate product group. Alternate product groups allow the system to change product IDs in the export file to match those in the destination database. For more information, refer to Understanding Alternate Product Groups.

Create Separate Files

Check to create a separate export file for each kit template. Uncheck to group all kit templates into one export file.
